Hi Sean/mixxx-devel,

I had a chance to properly play with the .3d this afternoon for the
first time. There's an impressive array of functionality in there :)

I thought I'd give my comments on the way the mapping works. Obviously
if everyone and his DJ disagrees then you should ignore me.

My main comment is that it's very complex. Firstly I think that there
shouldn't be multiple modes per button. For example it's not obvious
what the difference between red vinyl and purple vinyl is until you've
played for a while or asked. I think that the multiple modes are
useful but that this stuff should be configurable elsewhere. One of
them changes the pitch range, which should probably just come from the
preferences? If you just had one red button and all the others blue
(or off?) then it would be obvious what you're doing from the writing.

I also think that what mode you're in should be shared between decks.
Otherwise you have to remember what mode you left the other thing in.
It seems more intuitive to me that you're in eq mode and working with
deck 1 then deck 2. It's kind of a parameter. Or is this written with
the idea of using a pair of .3ds together in mind or something?

When in vinyl mode (and one or two others I think), touching the main
centre slider just causes the song to skip about. I'm not sure what's
supposed to happen in this mode, if it's not supposed to be doing
anything then perhaps it should just be disabled?

The eq 3 slider thing is awesome. Never change it :)

Adam
