Lots of weird stuff in the video world hails from the same era - the
30000/1001 frames/sec instead of 30 frames/sec is another "feature"
we're stuck with.
Question about the setup though. I've been reading the forums
off at forum.canopus.com and get the feeling that the 'setup' switch
default is incorrect for US users. The units are assembled in
Japan which is NTSC-land but does not use the 7.5IRE setup.
I'm going to change switch 2 on my Canopus ADVC100 from OFF to ON
tonight and process a movie to see if the DVDs have better contrast
(black level).
But for those I've already captured and don't want to spend the 6 or
8 hours redoing is it possible to (at least partially) compensate
in software for captures made with the wrong 'setup'?
Cheers,
Steven Schultz
