Thanks for the script Jon, and also thanks to Ronald and Daniel
for good information.
I had tried using mplayer and mencoder before, and could play
the video clip just fine in Linux, but could never get good
audio that synced with the video -- so I guess the "-benchmark"
is crucial. Also, I was totally unaware of the stream.yuv and
audiodump.wav result files -- and I see that they aren't mentioned
in the man page. Quite handy that they're there -- now that I
know about them.
FYI, since my clip as a sorenson file was 320x240, I decided to
keep the size and write it to DVD-R that way, and it worked fine
on my standalone player. Of course, my player seems to do pretty
well with a lot of crazy stuff -- my test was even done on a
mini-DVD since I didn't want to spend one of my blank DVD-R discs
on the test -- and also I didn't want to wait for the DVD burn,
which tends to take a lot longer.

Well, I'm not making VCD's, but I'd guess it could be adapted to
DVD's pretty easily, so sure I'd be interested.

Now I'm off to learn more about making DVD menus under Linux (I
finally got a simple one to work with the help of the dvdauthor
list).
Thanks again to all,
Bill
