64Bit PCI devices are hard to find. I don't have a other device. I can't
test it, sorry.

Oh, I'm not asking you to test anything like that - I was just telling you for future reference. We've already done that at work.


I've taken a look at that datasheet. I guess you reffer to the topic:
Southbridge with an Integrated PCI-PCI Bus Bridge. I don't know why they
hat the tight timing. And I really have no idea why 2 66MHz 64Bit PCI
cards don't work.

They should work, if all the timings are 100% on, but they don't always. For example, at work the Ethernet card and SCSI card are fine together, but toss in the RAID card with either of them and you get lots of errors.


The AWE 32 and the SB16 before were really impressive cards. No question
about that. The SB-Life was the first card I remember to be able to play
back and record at the same time. Because of that I bought it.

Fair enough. But I think that is true of lots of cards now, for much less money.

THe buz should have it's own interrupt. in the configuration before (int
A) and now (int C). But It shares it's interrupts. But that does not
cause any problems.

I use a Suse and also a 2.4.21 Kernel. Do you have enables the zoran
support as module when you have compiled the kernel ?
No, I enabled v4l support and I2C support, downloaded the Zoran drivers
 and installed them. I shouldn't have to enable them in the kernel and
then overwrite the ones that are there.
Enabling the drivers in the kernel as module is also a posibility.

I've found that it depends on the slot you put it in. Counting from top PCI slot, I've got the Buz in slot 3 (first 32/33 slot), and the soundcard in slot 5. (One from the bottom). This gives me:

Hmm. ACPI does config of PnP stuff. I wonder if the Buz is getting set up differently or something because of it.


I couldn't even watch on the Zoltrix TV Max. A bunch of IRQ errors and a then a freeze, using 0.7 or 0.9 drivers. Whuch drivers were you using for the BTTV?

FYI - the BTTV drivers that come with kernel 2.4.21 were the only ones that would work on my 440BX. The rewrite for the new version (0.9.11?) seems to have broken lots of things.


The buz works too. Currently The cards are aligend that way in my board:
bottom 32 bit PCI slot Ensoniq ES1371 (es1371)

Sapphire Atlantis (ATI Radeon) 9100. AGP Slot. DRI enabled. Nothing in any 64 bit slots. Buz in top PCI slot, Hauppage Digital XG in 1 from bottom slot.


BTW: Have you ever tried recording without sound an to /dev/null ? That
elimates problems with the disks and sound cards.

I have turned sound off, but not changed the device to /dev/null. I will try that. The changing of the sound to off did not help.


2.) Are you using ACPI?
Also the default. That would mean that is is enabled.

But it also has to be enabled in the kernel.


BTW: I have a "problem" with my board. The VRM2 gets really warm 72�C.
The VRM1 has only 50�C. The CPU 1/2 56/61 �C. Do you have similar
temperatures.

No. They are both stable at 45C under load (load = Return to Castle Wolfenstein for 4 hours). They used to get hotter before I put in 3 case fans. The CPU's are always +/- 1C of each other.


I have that temperatures when the system is powered on for some hours
and encoding for more than 50minutes. And I have in the room 29�C.
