is at least transmitted with a too high vertical(!) resolution (stations
on the other hand tend to reduce horizontal resolution too much,
however...), leading to flicker and chroma-artefacts. PAL says the
vertical resolution may not exceed 2/3 of the maximum resolution. This
is badly needed because TV is interlaced. If you do otherwise (you could
do so, as the lines technicaly are independend from each other...) you
will at least see strange flickery and up'n down jumping lines/images...
And this is what I see nearly in any broadcasted signal ...
