Hi, Sunday before last was my first autox in about 4 years and the first ever in a FWD car (used to autox w/ a Porsche 914). After 8 hot laps 1.3 mile each, the outside half of each front tires are badly chunked, some as much as 50%. I ran them at 50psi front and rear and the front still rolled over about an inch up the sidewall.
I was wondering if this is typical for you autox-ers. I either need to have them shaved or better yet get a set of autox wheels/tires (probably cheaper in the long run). Maybe a set of 14" teardrops for autox instead of 15" BBS? I'm currently running 195/50/15s... What's recommended, 14" or 15". Is everybody running Kumhos nowaday? Which size for 14"? 195/55/14 or 205/55/14? Or should I stick w/ 205/50/15s? And which one, full tread or heat cycled or 4/32nd shaved? I'm not contending for anything (note my team name :-), just want to have fun and want the tires to last to save money in the long run. How long do they last anyway? Anyone has anything relevant for sale?
