Hi again,

Well, my search for a GLI was short. I found one in Fremont yesterday and
plopped down a deposit. It's a looong story so I'll spare ya the details. Nice,
super-clean, loaded, teal '91 GLI with 60kmi and a salvage title (theft
recovery,
not wrecked). Power is weak so I hope to diagnose that soon. The rest of the
car was good enough to convince me to get it even though I was nervous about
the motor/HP "problem". Time will tell if that was smart or not, eh? :-P

Anyway, our current damaged 90.5 GLI is now up for sale. It's hit in the rear
and needs a new rear body panel. I picked up a matching-color trunk lid and
taillight to replace the busted stuff. I was planning on getting the car
repaired,
then selling it. But I figured I'd see if anyone wants it "as-is" with the parts
to fix it. It will require bodywork, it's not all bolt-on stuff (or I'd do it
myself!:). I can email pictures etc if anyone is seriously interested. Here's
some basic info, please email me with questions:

1990 Jetta GLI 16v, 111kmi
Color: Calypso Green (light, "sea-foam" green)
Recaro seats with power height adjustment
Sunroof, trip computer, power locks
NO power windows/mirrors, cruise, ABS, or fog lights
Interior is excellent, near showroom condition
Exterior is average, and rear end is banged up
Thule ski/bike rack (box of fittings etc included)
Neuspeed springs (original springs included)
Short shift kit with shift weight (linkage totally rebuilt)
Teardrop 16v 14x6 wheels with Comp T/A's
Motor is VERY strong, recent timing belt, front brake job
New cat, rear muffler, O2 sensor, radiator hoses, p/s hoses
Ice cold A/C (<--main reason we bought the car!)
1-2 synchro is worn, slight oil leak from speedo cable seal (??)
Rear windows are tinted
Clean CA title

I live in Sacramento, CA. I found a shop here that will do the repair for
$700-$1k,
depending on if you want the replacement trunk lid re-painted etc. It's fully
driveable but the trunk is, umm, not quite watertight "as-is". If nobody wants
it as a builder, I'll get it fixed and post again in a few weeks. I not really
sure what to ask in it's present condition, but I'd kinda like to get mid-$3k
or so. If it wasn't hit, I'd ask mid $5k. I'm open to offers since I'd prefer
to save the hassle of the bodywork if possible.

Please email me privately, off the list if you have any questions... no need
to clutter the list up! :-)
