OK, to put to rest the whole Eurovan controversy:

Eurovan VR6: 140 hp @ 4500, 177 ft-lb @ 3000

The engine was detuned for the Eurovan application. There were issues about
fitment into the engine bay and to the transmission, so the manifolds(intake
and exhaust) had to be changed. Along with that, the engine management was
changed. I will be the first to tell you that they are an absolute whore to
work on. I will also be one of the first to say that the 5-cylinder[of Audi
90 fame(infamy?)] that was in the Eurovan before was just fine where it was.
As far as it not being very practical, and overpriced, I have two things to
say: 1. Car and driver correctly stated that the Eurovan was for
"well-heeled iconoclasts" 2. Can any VW really be reasonably compared to a
Honda or Toyota? Would you compare your GLI to an Accord or a Camry?
Neither would I. VW owners are not anything like Honda or Toyota owners, and
their products both xxxxx and show that fact.
