If they are the originals, the one out of the '85 will be a 9A and the one 
from the 16V will be an AGB or a 2Y.  The gearing in both of these 
transmissions is quite similar, but I would opt for the 16V.  It has a larger 
mainshaft, and is stronger.  Buy keep the 9A around in case the diff in the 
16V trans goes.  Remember, they use different clutches, as well...
