Jorge:

I've always preferred the GLI to the GTI. One of the reasons is that the
GLI was made in Germany, while the GTI was made in the US/Mexico. Also, the
GLI seemed to get some of the "goodies" that were never offered on the GTI:
the 10.1" front brakes and ABS are just two that come to mind.

        Subject: Future GLI?

        Hi folks,

Yesterday I went down to a local VW used car shop (or should I say
pre-owned) to
see a black 91 GTI 16V they had, but it had been sold on Monday.
One of the
buyers told me they're getting a mint (which also happens to be the
color - Mint
Green) '92 GLI next Tuesday. According to the guy, this car is
owned by an
older lady, who drives it that way, and they've always serviced it.
He said
they've been after this car for a while because it's in excellent
shape. My
question is, Is there a noticeable loss in performance due to the
extra weight?
And, How much heavier is the GLI than the GTI? I prefer the looks
the GTI's,
but if this car is as clean as they say, I think I'm buying it. I
know I'll be
test driving it, so I'll know what the performance differences are,
if any, but
I wanted some opinions from you guys. Really can't wait 'till
Tuesday. Sorry
for the length of this, but it's kinda slow today anyway.
