I have not heard the term "Unofficial Recall" myself but more often something along the lines of "Secret Recall". These are not so much recalls as they are repairs made to vehicles for known defects not serious enough to require a governmental recall. A certain level of screaming/yelling/bitching is required to have one of these performed. BTW, this type of repair is NOT what some refer to as "Dealer Goodwill". That is a whole different topic.
