Nathan, Sorry to hear about your situation. I had to get a new tranny last may after the differential carrier bearings failed and wore out the output flange seals. My tranny made the "whizzing" noise you describe as I was running w/o any transmisson oil. Anyways, rather than taking my chances on the local shop rebuilding the tranny, I ended up getting a rebuilt tranny from Kraftswerk, and it seems to be holding up okay. The unit feels somewhat notchier than it did before and therefore a bit harder to shift, but all in all, I'm happy with it. You can also choose the gearing you want for no extra charge, and also play with the final drive ratios. Also, I think you should shell out the $99 for the Velocity limited diff. kit. They'll install it for free. I wish I did.
Expect the whole experience to cost around $1500 or so. It is definitely not cheap. -- Akira Sasaki 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering Ann Arbor, Michigan > From: Nathan Johnston <[email protected]> > Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2000 15:39:54 -0800 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Update: Tranny is hosed > > Well, I got out to the car today to check my tranny fluid for > anything mysterious.
