Hmm, the coil wire on my 16V doesn't seem to be too long.  It isn't a direct
run from the coil to the distributor cap, but is routed down and around
along a vacuum line and coolant (heater) hose.  It's retained to those with
factory nylon swivel clips, the ones that have one large end to clip over
the coolant/vacuum hoses, with a smaller end that the coil wire clips into.
All very neat and tidy.  I'd post pics of my engine bay, but I don't seem to
have a digital camera...
Chris, if you're curious, I could pull the coil wire off and measure it's
length.  Maybe ND does offer different versions, and you got one meant for a
Scirocco 16V.
Bottom line:  Nice, very high quality plug wires!
