The last rental I got stuck with was an Pontiac Sunfire, free from
Insurance company.. Hey, at least I wasn't stuck with an Escort. The car
was less that nothing special (4 spd auto) though.. couldn't accelerate and
at moderately high speeds, it would swerve along the road because the
traction was so poor, due to the 4" wheel and tire setup I imagine.

There is an foreign and exotic rental place a few minutes away from me.
Some day I will rent one of those Porshes or Ferraris (they have a gorgeous
TT as well)!

Oh damn, I can't agree with that more. I am 400 miles from hittin 100K and I
have a bad head gasket leak in the rear of the engine. I've been told by the
prospected guy that will most likely be doing the work that all I need is the
gaskets, bolts, and head machining ( I have let it overheat really bad a
couple times....bad me). BUT, talking with the owner here at Autobahn
International (I'm new to this list so FYI I work there) he said that if the
head has been machined before (which it probably hasn't) then I will have to
get a new head. Also, because I've had this problem for about a little over
a month (long story as to why it's not fixed yet) he told me I'm probably
going to come across other problems that aren't evident by just driving the
car or looking at the engine exterior. For all of you that have hit 100K and
had to do this work, please tell me what your experience was and what, if
any, extra problems you came across. I've been in this situation before with
my '83 Cabriolet I had a couple years ago, but that was a 1.7L 8v and I ended
up blowing that gasket and replacing the engine...I don't wanna do that
again! There's a shop down the road that wants ~$600 parts & labor for the
job, but the guy I might have do the work, as a friend, will do it for ~$250.
 That includes machining the head.
I wanted to throw some cams in there while it was apart, but talking with my
boss, I don't think I'll be able to afford that if the work can't be done for
$250.
Thanks in advance...
