I personally dislike personalized plates - probably b/c a "normal"
plate is more plain and thus, more difficult to remember for both the
police and the disgruntled public alike.  

We used to have a pinhead in the area that drove a 5.0L Mustwang -
his theory was that 8s and Bs looked similar so he had a license
plate with some combination thereof.  In theory it sounds good but
remember, you still can't outrun a radio.  If the cop notices your
car but he sees some silly series of 8s and Bs, he might not get the
plate immediately BUT it'll be much easier to find since he'll just
search all VW Jettas that start with 8 or B - get my drift?
