I personally dislike personalized plates - probably b/c a "normal" plate is more plain and thus, more difficult to remember for both the police and the disgruntled public alike.
We used to have a pinhead in the area that drove a 5.0L Mustwang - his theory was that 8s and Bs looked similar so he had a license plate with some combination thereof. In theory it sounds good but remember, you still can't outrun a radio.
