Well, good news is that I've found out where water is getting inside my '90 GLI.
It's leaking into the car in the exact same place as Dave's car. Past one of the little black clips on the bottom of the door. I've siliconed all around it and taped up the vapor barrier and am waiting for the silicon to dry.
