I've removed my heater core box from my 90 gli and found there is no foam left on any of the flaps. My plan was to tape up the flaps instead of getting any kind of foam replacement. Should this be a problem? The flap closest to the passenger compartment seems as though no foam was ever there? Should I cover this one as well? Also, there are some screws that keep the door from closing all the way. Looks to be the original heater core from the '89 date stamp. Should these screws be there to keep the flap from closing the remaining 1/4"?
