My cuz was having a starting problem with his 86 Golf. We couldn't figure out why the car ran like shit when he first started it, the week before it started great. As it turns out it was the battery terminals. They were all beat up and didn't hold the battery terminals very well. As soon as we changed them the car started up without a problem.
I also decided to replace my battery terminals as well as positive, negative and ground straps. I went to a car audio store and picked up a few yards of red & brown 4 gauge wire. I also picked up some battery terminals that would be able to handle the wires. The terminals are for car audio and they use allen keys to fasten to the battery terminals, and allen keys to secure the wires into the terminals.
