I just had this done on my car. ('91 GLi)

seems that the mechanics just removed the AC, and ran a very long belt up to
my alternator, and back down around a couple other pulleys on the engine. No
extra brackets or mods done to make it work. Makes sence to go around more
than one other pulley otherwise at high rpm's the belt will have a tendancy
to bow outwards and/or possibly throw the belt entirely. As soon as i get my
digital camera back, ill take a picture of the job.

Subject: [a2-16v-list] A/C Removal: What do I need?

What do I need to remove the A/C shit from my 16V?
What bracket, pulley, and what size belt will I need to make the conversion?

Thanks,
Mark Reda.
