I have always used it on both. You really get back to retighten those. I've
never greased any of that, or do you mane on the push plate where the rod goes?

Hello,
Someone did say to use loctite but, was that on the flywheel bolts as well as
the prssure plate?I didnt know about the flywheel bolts. I have to go tomorrow
and find replacement bolts for both the pressure plate mounting bolts and the
12 flywheel bolts. Hopefully I wont have to take a roadtrip to a VW dealer.
Also what type of grease is needed during the reassembly? My pressure plate
was hard as hell to get off..first the mounting bolts were very very
tight..then the pressure plate was majorly stuck in place. Either way it came
off.
Thanks
Mike

Did anyone say to use loctite on all bolts going back in the flywheel and
pressure plate?

Hello,
It is a 9mm 12 pt. I bought and used and worked fine. I did not try an 11/32
but I will next time my 9mm 12 pt is missing.
Thanks again for your help,
Mike

I use an 11/32 12 pt socket. Fits nicely!

Hi All,
Does anyone know what type of tool is needed to remove the bolts in the
flywheel. I dont think (but i may be wrong), they are regular 12 pt socket.
Time to get up on this job that i originally started a year ago.
This ofcourse is my 89 gti 16v
Many Thanks,
Mike
