I did a little checking around under the hood of the Passat. It appears that cylinder 2 is not firing. I unplugged spark plug wires one at a time and it didn't make a difference when I pulled plug wire #2. I pulled the spark plug out and it was covered in gas. I changed the plug wires with the ones on my Jetta and even replaced the spark plug with a spare I had around. It still mis fired on cylinder 2.
