Read the book "Colin Chapman - The Man and His Machines". Perhaps the best section of the book was when Chubby was building frames - his philosophy was to construct the frames and then start removing tubes. When the frame collapsed, he put that tube back in and the frame was "complete".
The most amusing thing today is the trend towards Carbon Fibre trim. It's funny to see some kid throw on a set of CF pedal covers "because they're light, yo". Yeah - light and slicker than snot...
