I did get the cable plugged back in last Saturday morning so my speedo works
now, but for the cruise control I need to track down the wire from the speed
sensor to the cruise control module to see why there is no resistance.
Maybe the wire is pulled from the socket or broken somewhere. I doubt the
speed sensor is broken because the digital dash readout still reports my
average speed.

I did drive about 380 miles from Tampa FL to South Carolina Saturday
evening/night. Got 30 mpg going 75 - 80 with the ac on the entire time. I
set my fuel mixture to run a little leaner than the normal 14.7 to stretch
out the mileage (using megasquirt and a wideband o2 sensor set to 17:1 for
those wondering). I haven't really taken this car on any long drives in the
past few years so I can't compare to the stock highway mpg. I know the epa
rating was 28 for this car back in 1990 and that mpg is at really slow
speeds with no ac I think.

Hey Chad,Did you get your speedo/cruise issue resolved?

Thanks guys. Holland is really accurate with his facts, so I am sure
the cable got pulled out somehow when I was removing the vacuum motor
for the cruise control. The speedo cable is right in the way of the
vacuum motor and it is a tight fit.

Now... should I go to sleep or have a look at the car... sleep...
work on the car...

I agree 100% with Holland. I've sen more issues with the cable not
properly
seated/clipped to the back of the speedo.
