hey guys

Raphael had asked if anyone has tried 11.10 as a friend of his had asked about it. As well William had brought up orchestra for provisioning of virtual machines in the cloud.

I am actually testing this as we speak as I am thinking since im the linux server admin for a friends dedicated server and with xen on its own it is rather limited in os's and much harder to work with.

Current I am testing orchestra as an alternative to xen. It supports all sorts of distros and it doesnt seem to hard to add any other distros since it is geared towards supporting ubuntu releases. What has suprised me as well is seeing that it supports windows based virtual machines as well.

Virtualization backends from what I have seen that is supported are as follows:

xen paravirtualized guests
qemu
and vmware.

There are also 3 ways to work with the vm's:
web based interface
xmlrpc
CLI

I will give you guys an update as my testing progresses :D would be interesting to get the mirror server setup with this which would make backups of the mailing list and site much easier and easier to allocate resources to.
