I have no facts, just conjectures. From my 25 plus years with Microsoft, I
have yet to see them come out with an original product, or a product that
they did not purchase from another developer company.  That includes the
initial releases of MS Office.  Ideas there were taken from an OS2
wordprocessor.

Microsoft paid Novell off as a sellout, but it was not really a sellout. I
sincerely believe that Novell had networking patents that Microsoft
violated,and it was cheaper for MS to make a deal with Novell, then to go to
court.

We will never know, will we?
