With regard to the issue of images for your vocabulary flash cards, have you thought of drawing your own? You can still use Google to find the images, then you can draw a quick cartoon that has the essence of the word?
I find that the act of drawing the image helps fix the word in my memory. Then, if you want to distribute the images you can do so because you created them. Dont forget to add a Creative Commons licence for how you want others to use the images! Here are some examples of my drawings.
