The answer and question windows were the same size, but they adjusted to fit
when necessary. So for instance, with this card...

Q: [picture of the Mona Lisa]
A: Mona Lisa

...the question window would be automatically expanded to fit the picture,
while the answer window would be compressed. This was helpful on cards with
pictures. With Mnemosyne 2 Beta the question and answer fields are always
locked at the same size. So on my laptop resolution 1366x768, a picture
250px tall will not completely fit (even before adding text, etc.)

One advantage to the layout of Mnemogogo is that space is never an issue.
The answer appears directly under question, separated by an horizontal line.
If an image doesn't fit the screen, no problem because the question and
answer scroll together, no separately.
