Hi,

If you think it crashes first on PC, what is the error message you get on PC?

Could it be that your wifi connection is unstable?

I’ve added the issue related to incoming syncs when the card browser is open to
my todo list.

Cheers,

Peter

It did not unfreeze. :-D

Hello Peter,

I have the impression, that Mnemosyne crashes first on the PC and then I get an
error message on my smartphone. (I have attached another, recent error
message.) It happens pretty much at the same time, therefore it is hard to
tell, which software produces an error first. This time the error message from
the phone is the following: "Connection reset by peer". This sounds like the PC
cuts the connection. Mnemosyne crashed on the PC completely this time, without
leaving processes running in the background.

My phone has a functionality to move apps to the SD-card (see screenshots
attached). But I don't have the option to use it for Mnemosyne. It's greyed out.

I have checked, if there is another option to move Mnemosyne to a different
location. I found some preferences, which might help to install Mnemosyne at
the internal storage (see screenshots attached). I have changed the preferences
(from "before" to "after"; see file names of screenshots attached). Unstalled
Mnemosyne and deleted the Mnemosyne folder from the SD-card. Afterwards I
reinstalled Mnemosyne on the phone and syncronized it with the PC. Apparently
Mnemosyne does always get installed to "/sdcard" on my phone, which ever
preferences I use.

No, I did not use the "datadir.txt" file to move data to the SD card (here is
how to do this: https://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/android-client). The SD card
seems to be the default location for apps on my phone.

Maybe I have screwed up my smartphone? I might have to reset my smartphone and
try again.

I found another bug, while trying to reproduce the error. Open any card in edit
mode FROM the card browser, and then try to sync. Since the database is locked,
Mnemosyne throughs an error and freezes (see error below). After a pretty long
while, it unfreezes.

Have a nice weekend!

Cheers,

Abakus

Hi,

Is the crash first on Android and then on your pc?

I guess you're using data_dir.txt to move your database to an external sd card?
The error indicates that Mnemosyne is not able to access the database anymore.
It could be your sd card is dying. Can you try with another card?

Also, on my phone, I cannot just put the data anywhere on the card, it needs to
be in a specific folder :
/storage/3738-3234/Android/data/org.mnemosyne/files

Do you get the same error if you run from internal storage?

Cheers,

Peter

The Mnemosyne UI crashed on the PC. The Mnemosyne process was still running in
the background (task manager). And also two Qt Web Engines.

I get this error very often. At about every 10th synchronization.

Afterwards I normally delete the Mnemosyne folder and start the sync again.
It's quite annoying since it takes very long.
