week/month" take care of this?
I think saying "I'll be working on this" is effectively saying "assign
this bug to me". In that case, I think actually assigning the bug makes
it more clear to everyone involved. Then if the effort is abandoned, the
mentor will make the call and unassign the bug, versus having other
contributors try to figure out if the bug is truly abandoned or not.
Maybe Bugzilla should have a "timeout" feature for new contributors that
automatically unassigns a bug after a month (and send out a couple
reminders along the way).
