No it doesn't. You can add whatever section you want. Just add an "mf-foobar" and we'll show it. The current approach has nothing to do with specific main page sections and you can highlight whatever you want. Seriously, try it ... anything with an "mf-" will be shown. If the core issue is that we want to show non TFA and ITN then you can already do it.
