sorry, friend but Magnolia is no ripoff.
First, if anything, magnolia is an homage (big
difference) to Nashville, which Altman made in the
70's. If you watch that movie (brilliant, but not as
important as magnolia) you will notice that triplett
and the main old guy are both in magnolia, which shows
PTA's sense of humor and his knowledge that he was
"ripping off" altman.
Second, Short Cuts is an adaptation of a Raymond
Carver collection of stories, Magnolia is an original.
Third, just because julianne moore is in it also
doesnt make it a ripoff.
Fourth, buy the new lifter puller record, It's great
