proxypass with dynamic DocumentRoot

I've been using mod_proxy
to proxypass my static content away from my /modperl
directories. Now, I'd like to make my root
dynamic and thus pass everything except /images and
/static.
I've looked at the guide and tuning  docs, as well
as the mod_proxy docs, but I must be missing
something.
