I tried the latest version this morning, and it doesn't appear to have
made a great deal of difference. I'm not sure whether it consumes memory
as fast, however, as you said, there are leaks elsewhere. The following
code reproduces it.

BTW, there is leak in Apache with reversed proxy of POST http requests http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=24991 It seems to be fixed in 2.1 and now sheduled to be backported to 2.0. I'm not sure if that's related to your problem, but thought to let you know.
