hmmm? have you ever heard of the VELVET UNDERGROUND? not card carrying
cookie cutter "mod"s, but more evidence of the pop art movement than any
english band could ever have hoped for.
not to belittle the british movement and thank you england for just being
you, but let's remember who invented rock n' roll in the first place.
right?

I think a strong case can be made for the essential britishness of the mod
movement. The fact that they amalgamated italian suits and scooters,
american music, ska, french loafers, etc. into a unique worldview that
survives to this day is amazing. That's not to say that americans, swedes,
spaniards,and canadians can't be mods or mod sympathizers, I just think
that
the britons have a strongest claim to modness.
When was the first siting of an american mod? My guess would be late 70's
early 80's.
