you should try to pick up "french new wave" by jean douchet as it's an
excellent resource & beautiful coffee table book. although they were not
released during the 60's, i would start out by seeing "400 blows" by
truffaut first then move on to "breathless" by goddard. i also really
recommend "six in paris" & "le samurai" by melville. "six in paris"
is a collection of 6 short films by pollet, douchet, chabrol, rohmer,
rouch & goddard all shot in different paris neighborhoods prior to the
may 68' riots.
