I stand humbled....sorry... it is spelled with a C [as was pointed out
several times]....my French is lacking as we can all tell...
Eamon, it was a 60's film, 1964 in fact. You probably saw a digitaly
remastered version (there are several versions out there) ...anyways, it's
certainly a perfectly 60's french idealistic lovey-dovey tear jerker...this
film is really a masterpiece.
Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964)
Written and Directed by Jacques Demy
Stars:[a very young] Catherine Deneuve, Jean Champion, Anne Vernon and
Nino Castelnuevo.
Re-Released (1996) in the States by Zeitgeist Films
by the way:
If you ever want to know anything about a film, or a directors filmography,
or a production companies credits, visit www.imdb.com (the internet movie
database). The 'industry' FREE one-stop-shop for film info...
something fun for the kiddies:
try doing a search under a specific year and country for a list of ....oh
lets say...French films from the 60's perhaps?
