Somebody asked:
>what about Ivan jones?
Since no one else fielded this one, I thought I would give it a try.

The best resource that I know of would be on the Luv n' Haight label- (
a child of Groove Merchant). I believe the story is they bought all of
the masters from a studio in Berkeley (Fantasy? or Prestige?) so they
started pumping out reissues of his stuff, both whole lps and singles,
as well as splashing it in their compilations. Definite "Soul Jazz",
fodder for many early to mid '90s bay area acid jazz bands. Lots of
rolling organ, with Jones strumming away on guitar. One album worth
checking out (that I found at the Goodwill in terrible condition) is
"Snake Rhythm Rock" (1973, Prestige). The A-side rolls along at a good
clip, upbeat but smooth, with "Hoochie Coo Chicken" as well as the title
track. "The First Time Ever I saw Your Face" cover is moderate at best,
and "He's So Fine" would be perfect for the early seventies american
Quad soundtrack (j/k).

My Two Cents (I'll have to owe you one)
