driving in nyc is nutty. but there are two factors that make it crazy:
1) taxi cabs 2) non-nyc residents - i don't personally know anyone who
lives in the city who has a car. there was a day a couple years ago when
our devil look alike mayor pissed off the cab drivers so much that they
went on strike for a day. it was the most peaceful, quiet day i've ever
experienced.

scooters exposed - saw a most disturbing thing on tv last night - there
was a macy's commercial and stuck in one of the scenes was a yuppie
looking fuck on a scooter.

brings us back to mass commercialization. someone commented earlier that
nyc's mod scene sucks because there only a few nights happening here and
there, lack of interest, etc. all true. [-- my personal opinion is, that
is to say, i'm not knocking what you said about the nyc mod scene
whoever you were. just my opinion okay?] -- i think it's better as an
underground thing anyway. i know that there's three or four solid nights
to go to and that suits me fine. i mean who has the cash to go out every
night? not me. as soon as it becomes aboveground, it will be destroyed
just as it was in the mid-sixties. plus i like the individuality of it.
insiders club. knowing there's not 20 fucks walking down the same street
as you wearing the same clothes, parkas, and clarks desert boots.

and the kiss of death for all scenes and subcultures -- a full page
spread in the arts and leisure section of the new york times. i fear
we're not far from it folks. all these spreads in details, bikini, etc.
scare me...

i say lets keep it underground.
