>In some places, it never went away

In MOST places it didn't, try visiting a construction site...anywhere USA.
I remember when the mullet/hersher style was first replaced by the
bald/close shave heads courtesy of the Beastie Boys...I think it was in
'90, I was afraid the world was suddenly being run over by skins on
skateboards.

>...worn with irony.

Irony is weak. Honestly, who decided "hesher" is funny...those who became
"punk" as a result of Green Day, then fell in love with the Donnas? Is it
those types who find this...er, (now presumed kitchy?) style funny...I'd
rather see them back at the malls wearing their giant pants and flares
pitchin' gang signs and shooting each other. Morons.

>"Heybras"...they greet each other with "Hey, bra" (sort of like bro).

so they've stopped using, "s'up cool?" = "whats up cool breeze?" right
before they start swingin' at you...and have they stopped migrating to the
mall in Rock Hill, SC to breed?
