Hey, guess what, I am writing substance!
Yeah, anyways.. I had a couple of friends who were into visuals. Everyone
of them has a different way of doing it. From completely analog wave
patterns and static blending with sliced in 8mm film stuff to completley
computer controlled lights and lazers and then there was this other guy
that was very much in to just projecting oil patterns on the wall.
The first guy was called "The Brain Farmer". His real name is brian.. He
would do everything completely analog. Just taping tape and retaping tape
and taping mixed tape and just using a plethora of imagery. He would ofter
us electronic meters from radio shack to just mold and morph tv screen
static. He will also get a bit freaking and splice in some odd and
usually gross films of 70s porn and devil worship propaganda.
My other friend Joe, from Light Fantastik does a lot of the raves in the
Midwest. Basically he is more into the lighting aspect of the
show. Positioning flashes and scanners in the right places.. The correct
palettes and he does run a lazer that he programs and controls. Completely
different idea behind it.. but they are both visuals.
Then there was this hippy guy that would sit and mix colored oils in water
on a overhead projector. True hippy acid experiences if you need
them. 60's kids.. start this a house party and who knows what fun could be
had.
None the less. Its all pretty damn cool cause I sure as hell have never
had that much ambition to dive into something like this.
