I accept (and even find it reasonable) when people use binaries for
convinience or evaluation reasons. But when they stuck into problems or want
to adjust things, I appreciate that they start over from the source....
In your particular situation the httpd.conf-dist file (or the installed
httpd.conf.default file) in the source tree provides you a well-balanced
config which is also correctly prepared for SSL. Start with this one, please.
