You could try checking the timing. Recommended settings are given variously
as 8 degrees before TDC and 10 degrees before TDC.

If it's set at 10, try retarding to 8.

My 1981 4/4 with 1600 crossflow engine has lately developed an occasional 
habit of running on after I turn off the ignition.
It is easily stopped by letting the clutch out in gear,

Any suggestions of what is causing this and how to correct it ?
