Thats a good point Roger - my first long wet trip in the +8 the wipers went intermittent on me - on later investigation because the wiper relay under the dash had been dripped on by water it had stopped working. I took the cover off, dried it out - siliconed up the terminal side, but made sure when it went back in that it was supported so it had its rain hat (cover) upermost. I also got new rubber seals for the wiper posts as well to help reduce the sources of leaks.

I have changed the fuel pump relays two or three times on my 1998 +8 and removing the dash was the only way forward! However on the last change I rotated all the relays through 180deg so that they could be removed without removing the dash. This of course meant that the connectors were uppermost and liable to moisture ingress so I made a plastic drip guard to protect the connections. (I did contemplate cutting an access opening in the rear of the glove box but that seemed a bit excessive.

Roger

Access is much easier by removing the 3 screws holding the dash on and folding the dash forward!
Put steering wheel at lowest position if you have a long door car with adjustable rake wheel first.

The pump relay went on my plus 8 last year Bill, correcting the problem was complicated by one of my spares being duff so when I swapped over the fuel related relays the fault wasn't fixed. When I was airlifted to BHM and they swapped in brand new ralays would you believe it one of those was duff as well - caused a bit of headscratching and lots of circuit testing before it was realised. So it's an easy fix as long as
The relays you use are working.

PS Worst part is getting the relays back on their tongues on the bulkhead as the tongues fit under the relay top hat cover. So its a tight fit, and you need to be head first upside down under the dash.

The fuel pump on my 1997 Plus 8 appears not to be working. Could someone please tell me which of the 3 relays under the dash controls the pump?
Bill
