Hi Adrian
Could be the cap maybe if it's old and a cheap replaceable item (Malcolm has a
good check for this though). Also worth going over all the hose clips again as
they can back off over a period of time and seep unnoticed - check when engine
is fully cold. Is it the same with the heater valve open and closed - just to
eradicate the heater circuit. Seeps from the radiator, are often difficult to
spot - look for any tell-tail staining. Slight head gasket leak is always a
possibility on the Rover V8's, any signs of contamination  in the water?

Hi Richard

No I do not mean that.

I mean I fill to half way as level has dropped below that, and then check again
after a few hundred miles or so and is back to and inch or more below half way
full point. I would expect the level to remain relatively constant, and cannot
find any leaks elsewhere.

Hi AdrianIf you mean that when you top up (to the top) and then run the car and
when you check again the level has dropped to halfway down the header tank,
then is is the normal level. If you get a torch you will see a level tag
halfway down. Whenever you fill above the mark, the excess water will be blown
off under the cap and down the overflow as there is too much pressure in the
system . Richard M800RGN+8Sent from my HTC----- Reply message -----From:

[mogtalk2] Remote header tank level on +8To: "mogtalk2"
<[email protected]>Hi all,I have topped up the remote header tank level a
couple of times over the last 500 miles of running, I would expect the level to
remain constant. Running temperature is at about 85-90 and rises when
stationary, fan cuts in and out ok, and does not overheat. Is the water loss in
the header tank most likely due to the header cap? I suspect that this is
the original now 16 years age. ThanksAdrianSent from my
