Dave,

I tend to believe the same as most other respondees. I have been using NGK
(BP6ES or BPR6ES whichever is currently available in the States) for my 1970
1600 Crossflow since the mid 1970's (150,000 miles with a Formula Ford
rebuild at 105,000). I did try a few sets of the Autolite equivalent
Platinums along the way, but the difference seemed negligible to my
untrained eye and ears. If I let them go too long and get a larger gap than
specified then the new plugs really seem good!

I even still use the original Champion type RN9YC's in the '92 Plus 8 with
no complaints after 15 years of ownership. My wife's BMW 128i uses fancy
(and dear) plugs but I suspect that is a product of (profit) protection for
the dealership network!

Best regards,

Phil Fisher

Subject: [mogtalk2] Iridium Spark Plugs

Has anyone got any knowledge as to whether there would be any benefit in
fitting iridium plugs in the standard 1600cc Kent engine, albeit fitted with
Lumenition.
Dave
