"Starting tomorrow Tuesday the first discriminating radar will be operational 
in the Charente on the RN10 in the territory of the municipality of La 
Couronne, in the sensePoitiers / Bordeaux. Announced by a radar teaching since 
February 21, it will beinstalled at Auchan, in front of the radar sets, which 
already controls the speed in the direction Bordeaux, Angouleme. If you count 
the one at the height of the water of St.Yrieix, this is four kilometers in two 
radars which motorists will have to watch.

The radar can differentiate discriminating the type of vehicle by 
distinguishing light vehicles that can travel up to 110km / h, and heavy 
vehicles (trucks and buses, limited to 80km / h. Discrimination is by measuring 
height and length of the vehicle.

Thus, vehicles of over 2 m high and 8 m in length are classified as heavy 
vehicles.This equipment makes it possible to flash light vehicles and heavy 
goods vehicles traveling at different speeds and locate the path on which the 
vehicle contrary topenalize only one."
