Interestingly I was going to post a similar remark - when I worked for LucasCAV on a couple of occasions we had a military Land Rover which I believe was called a Santander or something similar. This was fitted with waterproofing and curiously was rigged out in desert finish/kit. But as we were the proving garage perhaps not so curious............

As a hint to V8 owners, Land Rover did produce a waterproofing kit
for the 3.5 V8 engine for military use - it includes a rubber "hat"
for the distributor and other interesting gadgets... They still
come up occasionally on ebay.
