Hi Ron,

When I first started to work for myself one of my contracts was to teach
engineering undergraduates why they needed to understand marketing and Brand
Image. Brand Image was a section of my lessons and taught me a few things
too. One day I put up the badges/logos of a number of famous car makes
including Morgan but blotted out the names; no-one knew Morgan. I then
showed images of car front ends and almost everyone exclaimed "Morgan" and
once they discovered I had one I was asked to talk about the company and how
it had survived. Morgan has dared to be different to survive and it seems to
me it is respected for that despite its quaintness. I've had four Alfas over
the years and all were fun to drive when compared with other mass produced
cars of their day but the fact they were engineered for high-speed
repetitive production techniques took the "Morgan-factor" away from them.
Good luck with the E-Type.

I don`t know much about `brand image` but recently I`ve put in a few hundred
miles in a 1750 Alfa Romeo Spider that I bought and applied some TLC to over
the winter.
Do you know this, nobody takes a blind bit of notice of it. Now in my
delightful 4/4, lights flash, people wave, and everybody knows someone who
had one of them hundreds of years ago.
So which stays and which goes.
No contest, Morgan stays forever ! And it`s far better drive.
Ron.
I`m also playing with an E Type Jag and will be very curious how that
compares and which I will want to keep when I eventually get a drive in it.
Bought as a big box of bits last year and nearly at the point of starting
the magnificent motor.
