What about using Rotor's implementation as documentation, instead of reverse-engineering binary format? In any case, from the law point of view results would be the same. One person writes documentation, another implements this class in Mono. Except that it would be infinitely easier (and perhaps more accurate) for the first person to extract format from the source code instead of taking binary apart. Just thinking out loud.
