So what's the final decision on this problem?  A change in the list of 
other packages that have to be installed first?  A change in the 
dependencies in Debian's packages?  (in which case I hope the necessary 
bug report is on its way to Dexbian)  A change in the -lcrypto link 
option?

Let me know when it's time to try another install-from-source test on 
this machine, starting from the same system configuration.
